I'm Utsav Karki, a software engineer focused on building modern web applications from the ground up — from product architecture and database design to responsive interfaces and production-ready functionality.

I completed my schooling at Dr. Graham's Homes before pursuing a B.Tech in Computer Science from Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology. My engineering education gave me the technical foundation to understand software beyond the interface — from programming fundamentals and databases to systems and application development.

My strongest professional experience comes from Rentz, where I have worked as a Full-Stack Software Engineer & Co-Founder. The experience has involved designing and developing a full-stack SaaS platform for property management and rental services, including software architecture, frontend and backend development, cloud integration, authentication, database design, and scalable web solutions.

Beyond Rentz, I've continued building through projects such as Pound for Pound and Pasupati Infrastructure, using each project to strengthen different parts of my engineering toolkit — from application development and responsive interfaces to real-world product requirements.

Mission Rentz

Property management, built as a software platform.

Rentz is a property management and rental platform designed to connect property owners, tenants, property discovery, and operational workflows inside one software ecosystem.

Data model

Property → Rooms → Marketplace

Infrastructure

Firebase + Cloudinary

System design

The platform is designed around a connected property model where properties contain independently managed rooms or units. Marketplace availability can then be derived from room-level state instead of duplicating property data.

Engineering vision

The long-term vision is a complete property ecosystem where owners can manage properties, rooms, tenants, listings and finances while renters can discover and interact with available spaces through the same platform.

Startup journey

Incubated through the SMIT innovation ecosystem

Rentz originated as a student-led startup and was developed within the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem of Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology. IIC-SMIT supports student innovation, entrepreneurship and startup development through its pre-incubation initiatives, with incubation support available through SMIT's associated incubation ecosystem.

MVP ProductEarly-stage product experience

A product experiencebuilt for a streetwear brand.

Pound for Pound 218 is an MVP e-commerce product focused on translating a physical streetwear brand into a responsive digital shopping experience. The project explores the core product journey from discovering products to viewing detailed product information.

Technical approach

React / TypeScript

The MVP was structured around reusable product-focused components, separating product information, galleries, sizing, specifications, related products, and cart interactions into focused UI modules. This keeps the frontend easier to extend as the product evolves.
